Terms and Conditions for RFL Coach Education

General

  1. RFL Coach Education is delivered through the Performance and Coaching Department of The Rugby Football League Limited (the RFL)
  2. RFL Coach Education and the Performance and Coaching Department have engaged Coachwise Limited (Coachwise, Chelsea Close, Armley, Leeds, LS12 4HP. Tel: 0113 201 5464 E-mail rflcourses@coachwise.ltd.uk) to administer coach education and Continual Professional Development courses on their behalf.

Payment

Payment for RFL Coach Education will be accepted online by credit or debit card. Including the following:

Payment Methods

Should you be unable to provide credit or debit card details, you can apply by post and attach a cheque in payment. Alternatively you may apply by post and attach full invoicing details if your club or supporting organisation is to pay for the course on your behalf.

  1. Please note our refund/transfer policy below:
    • If a course is started and the candidate does not complete the course NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED.
    • If the candidate informs Coachwise or the RFL that they no longer wish to attend the course 5 weeks before the start date, a full refund can be provided.
    • If the candidate is unable to attend they may be able to transfer to an alternative course (Subject to availability and a transfer fee of £45.00 being received).
  2. Your application WILL NOT be accepted without payment in full. Places on course WILL NOT be reserved.
  3. Payment, a passport photo and completed declaration must be attached to your application. Failure to do so may result in non-admittance onto the course.

The Application and the Course

  1. On acceptance of your application,you will be issued with a Unique Learner Number (ULN) and therefore have access to a Personal Learner Record (PLR). However, you can opt out of allowing us to share this information with other Learner Registered Bodies if you so wish. This should be highlighted prior to the start of the course. You should indicate on your application form in the box provided if you DO NOT wish for us to share your ULN
  2. If you are applying to attend the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rugby League (L2CCRL), you must ensure that you obtain the booking code from your local Talent Coach or regional coach support. If you fail to do so or fail to add it to your application, the RFL reserves the right to refuse your application. We may refer you to the Level 1 Award in Coaching Rugby League (L1ACRL).
  3. If accepted onto the Level 1/2 UKCC Certificate in Coaching Rugby League (L1ACRL/2CCRL), you agree to undertake to carry out the work required and ensure completion of the qualification within a one-year registration period.
  4. The Rugby Football League shall not be liable for personal injury or loss that a candidate may sustain during the course of the training programme except where caused by its own negligence.
  5. The Rugby Football League reserves the right to cancel a course for any reason, in which case a full refund will be given or alternative venue/dates may be offered.
  6. The minimum age requirement for the L1ACRL is 16 years of age and is 18 years of age for L2CCRL. If you are under 18 years of age the RFL will be unable to licence your qualification. You will receive an accredited qualification at the end of the course along with a certificate, but the RFL will be unable to provide a Coaching ID card until the coach reaches 18 years of age.
  7. You must ensure that you have read and understood the guidance notes and course outline that are attached to the course application. You must be able to confirm that the requirements for acceptance onto the course have been met. All the information in the application is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  8. You acknowledge that by completing the declaration on the application you are agreeing to abide by the Coaches Code of Conduct and other RFL initiatives relating to standards of personal and professional practice. The Coaches Code of Conduct can be found at the RFL’s website (www.therfl.co.uk/coaching).
  9. The RFL reserve the right to take photocopies of your session plan templates and other candidate related material for showcasing good practice.
  10. Attendance on all days of the course is mandatory and all modules must be completed. The candidate must complete the course within 1 year of registration or a re-registration fee will apply.
  11. You will be required to undertake practical sessions and the course may be physically demanding. If you have a disability, injury or medical condition which may limit/hinder your involvement or participation in physically demanding activities, you are obliged to declare any relevant, current or previous disability/condition/injury to your tutor at the point of registration. In participating in this course you acknowledge that the course will be physically demanding, and that you are aware of the associated medical and physical risks involved. To the extent permitted by law the RFL, its officers, employees, agents or medical advisers are not responsible for any injury or illness that you may suffer as a result of your participation in the course.
  12. These terms and conditions should be read in conjunction with the RFL Coaching Code of Conduct and Safe Play Code. You are directed to the RFL’s Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy and the RFL Equity and Diversity Policy. These can be found in the Rugby Football League Handbook and at www.rfl.uk.com.

The Qualification

  1. The RFL license (subject to a CRB via the RFL) issued on certification of this course is valid for three years. In order to remain licensed you must attend CPD events. Further details on licensing can be obtained from the RFL.
  2. Malpractice Statement

    Malpractice is defined by the RFL as the following:

    • copying of the whole or part(s) of another learners work/assessment
    • failing to comply with the tutor/assessor instructions before/during assessment
    • misusing assessment material
    • impersonating other learners by pretending to be someone else, in order to produce the work for another, or arranging for another to take one’s place in an assessment
    • using unauthorised material during your assessment
    • behaving in such a way as to undermine the integrity of the assessment.

    Such behaviour is taken extremely seriously by the RFL and may lead to:

    • removal of coaching licenses
    • disqualification from entering one or more (re)assessments
    • non-certification for the course you have undertaken.

    You should remain vigilant in assessment settings and report any instances of non-adherence to the tutor/assessor.

  3. Complaints Procedure

    If you wish to complain about any aspect of the service you have received from the RFL, you should follow the procedure below.

    Stage 1

    At stage one the RFL require you to discuss your complaint verbally with the Performance and Coaching Administrator so you can try to agree a way forward or a solution that suits both parties. You should allow the Performance and Coaching Administrator sufficient time to investigate or remedy the concerns you have outlined in your verbal complaint. If you are making a verbal complaint regarding a coaching course you must do so within 5 working days of the course completion date.

    Stage 2

    If your verbal complaint has not been resolved at Stage 1, you should make a formal complaint. To make a formal complaint the RFL requires you to complete a Complaint Form which is to be sent to the Coaching Section. The Education and Training Specialist will write to you to acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and outline the course of action to be taken. The Education and Training Specialist will then investigate your complaint and send you a decision within 10 working days –communication at this stage will be in writing. All Stage 2 complaints should be sent to the Performance and Coaching Department, at the address on reverse.

    Stage 3

    If you are dissatisfied with the response received from Stage 2, you are entitled to take your complaint further. If you wish to follow stage 3, you are required to submit, in writing, the reasons you are dissatisfied. All Stage 3 communications should be sent to the Education and Learning Programmes Manager at the address on reverse of the booklet. The Education and Learning Programmes Manager will then look into the reasons you are dissatisfied. The Education and Learning Programmes Manager will respond to you within 20 working days.

    Stage 4

    If you have followed stage 1, 2 and 3 of the complaints procedure and are still dissatisfied with the response received from the RFL, you have the right to take your complaint further, to the awarding body (1st4sport Qualifications). Complaints sent to 1st4sport Qualifications must reach them within 20 working days of the decision being communicated to you by the RFL. 1st4sport complaints procedure can be accessed online via www.1st4sportqualifications.com.

  4. Appeals Procedure

    If you wish to appeal against an assessment decision you must contact the Performance and Coaching Department within 10 working days of receiving your assessment decision. You are advised to keep copies of all documents relating to your assessment as these may be needed later.

    Stage 1

    At stage 1 we require you to state your appeal in writing using the Learner Appeal Form 1. The Performance and Coaching Administrator will acknowledge your appeal within 48 hours and try and reach a resolution within 5 working days.

    Stage 2

    If you are still dissatisfied with the response you have received after you have spoken with the Performance and Coaching Administrator then you are required to appeal in writing to the Education and Training Specialist within 14 working days of the stage 1 using the Learner Appeals Form 2.

    The Education and Training Specialist will write to you to let you know we have received your appeal within 5 working days and outline the course of action we will take. The Education and Training Specialist will carry out an investigation and write to you within 10 working days with the findings and a decision as to whether your appeal was justified.     Stage 3

    If you have followed stage 1 and 2 of the appeals procedure and remain dissatisfied with the outcome, you have the right to appeal to the awarding body (1st4sport Qualifications) within 20 working days. The 1st4sport appeals procedure can be accessed online via www.1st4sportqualifications.com. On the home page, you should click on ‘information for Learners’ and ‘customer service’.

Policy and Procedures

  1. Data Protection

    The RFL endeavours to ensure that the Personal Data held is accurate and that inaccurate, irrelevant and excessive information is either deleted or rendered anonymous as soon as reasonably practical. However, the RFL may retain some Personal Data (including Sensitive Personal Data) in order to comply with legal and regulatory obligations and for other legitimate business reasons.

    The RFL reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to retain Personal Data (including Sensitive Personal Data), for purposes including but not limited to, equal opportunities monitoring, health and safety records and in relation to possible or actual legal claims.

  2. Equal Opportunities

    The RFL is committed to promoting a best-practice environment, to make sure every l learner is treated with respect and dignity. No learner or any related third party should feel threatened, degraded on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, physical characteristics, health, religious or political beliefs. To help us monitor the effectiveness of our policy you are requested to complete the monitoring form and return it with the application form.

    The RFL is responsible for ensuring:

    • equal treatment of all individuals who have the right to participate and enjoy sport, recreation and allied occupations
    • all personnel involved with the RFL are responsible for creating an open and friendly environment for all learners
    • that discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated
    • that allegations or incidents of discrimination or any type of unfair treatment will be taken extremely seriously and responding to swiftly.
